Another fuel pump question V70-XC70 1999

1999 V70 AWD 127000 Miles

I noticed that occasionally the car would not start on the first try. This happened for a couple of months. Today I got into the car and it would not start. It would crank and crank but would not start. Checked all the usual things and all were ok. I noticed that I could not hear the fuel pump priming as I usual. Finally figured out that I was not getting any fuel pressure by depressing the valve on the fuel rail will cranking. Not even a drop of fuel. I climbed under the car and banged on the area where the fuel pump is located. The car started. It will now start sometimes and not others. Bang on the fuel tank again and it starts. Is this a bad pump. Is it just dirty. Could it be a pressure regulator? If it is a pump does anyone have a good source as the price on these is very high? Thanks for the insight.
