Should the 'On/Off' cutout switch for the rear windows be illuminated at night? V70-XC70 1999

Hello All,

I have a 1999 XC were all the controll buttons for the windows and locks are located in a control panel built into the driver's door. I noticed recently that at night when I turn on the lights, all the switches are illuminated, except the "on/off" cutoff switch for the rear windows. Are they supposed to be illuminated too like the rest of the switches?

I contacted my local Volvo Dealer Parts Dept. It wasn't sure either and could only say there wasn't a separate bulb listed for the cutoff switch. If it is supposed to be illuminated, my only option would be to purchase a new control panel which is very expensive.

My questions are:

1) Is the cutoff switch for the rear windows supposed to be illuminated when you turn the lights on?

2) If it supposed to be illuminated, short of replacing the entire control panel, is there anyway of just replacing the individual bulb for that switch?

Thanks to all who respond.

Hugh
