Battery Drain - No start problem 850 1994

Folks -

My 1994 854 N/A is having battery drainage problems. The battery is only a year old or so. It started by hesitating to start, and then not starting at all after sitting overnight. It started fine when jumped. I did a search on this forum and saw from Klaus and others that the likely problem is a drain from some light staying on. I turned the dome light off from the center switch in case that was staying on, and checked the trunk light, which was not on. I then glued a nickel on the glove box door in case the button was not being pressed in when the glove box closed. For a day or so it seemed fine and started up right away with no hesitation, including this morning after sitting all night.

However, today I went in to clear the codes at lunchtime (the CEL went on when all this happened - I pulled a 1-5-4 in the A6 slot - no codes in A2). I cleared the codes, got back in the car and tried to start it and nothing! It woouldn't even start to run over (no clicking sound). I got it jumped and it started and then ran no problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Steve (1994 854 N/A, 165K)
