Need help diagnosing a problem V70-XC70 1998

Just replacing the PNP or throttle position sensor MAY fix it, but it might be something else entirely. Have your wife shift to N when coming to a stop so it doesn't stall.
Rowing the shifter from R to L about 20 times, with the key in pos II and engine off, usually clears the PNP for a while. The speed sensor data flows through the PNP and a good diagnosis will determine whether it is the sensor or not.
