Tranny flush?? 850 1995

Hey guys,

This forum has been big help. I got a 95 850 Automatic (142,000) and the transmission clunks sometimes when I shift into R Reverse. Also sometimes it shifts with a small clunk from 2 to 3rd, but its not very noticeable. I checked the fluid the other day it was correct level but was brown/dark, did not smell burnt though. I've had the car for about 20,000 miles and have already put over $1000 into it this summer.I do not have maintence records so I don't know when and what was done.

I've read somewhere that if tranny fluid was never flushed then it is not a good idea to flush it at higher mileage. Question is should I flush the tranny fluid or go for the drain/refill.

I don't have the tools nor the space and time to do this so if I were to flush at indie/dealer how much would it cost?

Should it be synthetic or regular?

Thanks to all once again
