Tranny flush?? 850 1995

I have also read the dodo that you should not flush or change fluid in a high-mileage auto transmission if it has never been flushed/changed. I think two issues are involved:

1. No dealer or mechanic wants to take the risk of flushing an old transmission, having it go bad in a week or month, and then hearing the customer blame him. It was probably ready to fail anyway, but the owner invariably will blame the mechanic.
2. If the fluid is dark or burned, maintenance has been deferred far to long and the unit may be in poor shape. It may last years or weeks.

The fact that you do not have maintenance records is a good sign that the previous owner(s) were not very fastidious about maintenance. You think they changed trans. oil? I suggest you use the oil specified by Volvo for that particular transmission. Hope it lasts for many more miles for you.
