Tranny flush?? 850 1995

Not sure that a clunking noise louder in reverse than when placing it in a forward gear will be resolved by changing your fluid...but a fluid change cannot hurt for certain.

If it still exists after your fluid cahnge, check the top differential mount for deterioration. Mine, although an automatic, made a similar noise as you mentioned and the rubber portion of the differential mount was nearly disintegrated. Obtained a replacement from Groton FCP for under $20 and had my local indy mech replace it for me. No more clunking when shifiting from reverse to drive!
