New Brick owner--850 GLT sludgy oil and sticky window 850 1996

You should have replaced the timing belt yourself, its an easy DIY. That white stuff on the dipstick is just water in the oil. Change the oil with Mobil 1 synthetic, no need to spend extra for "long life" advertising. Check the tranny fluid and if it is not red, flush it.

As for the slow driver's window, it could be a broken window guide. Your best bet would be to remove the panel and take a good look. The 850 is known to have the bottom channel break and cause problems. Watch out for the little plastic phillips screw at the front of the door.
