2000 S80 as replacement for my 95 850 - S80

The 2 litre engine was never available in the USA, and the S80 came with the 6 cylinder. With all of the talk about global warming and all we get are gas guzzlers. It seems the horse power race is still on here, and we will never get small engined cars with good mileage.
I sometimes wonder what it would be like to drive a V70 with a small engine and a manual transmission, or even a C30. For 2008, Volvo is going to an inefficient 3.2L for the XC and S80 for the US market.
