Just a couple of comments. Have you checked that the trunk light or glovebox light are not on? It will take a mechanic with a multimeter about 15 minutes to check voltage drop by pulling one fuse at a time, to determine which circuit is drawing too much electricity.

Verify your driving habits. Don't leave the headlight switch in the on position all of the time, it takes too much voltage from the system and does not allow the battery to fully charge.
Short trips are death, it takes time to charge a battery, and a 15-30 minute trip won't do it.

If you park outside, buy a VW solar powered trickle charger on Ebay. If you park in your own garage, buy a trickle charger to charge your battery over night. A trickle charge for 24 hours will ensure a complete charge.
