s70 glt crankshaft pulley S70

I purchased a 98, with 128K and am replacing 7 year old timing belt with 60K on it, along with water pump, idler and tensioner rollers, just so I can avoid a catastophic engine destruction and get some sleep .
I had to loosen the crankshaft pulley 1/4" to get the old belt out from behind the casting or spacer with the rubber ring on it behind the bottom of the pulley. I had to remove the pulley to remove the rear timing cover to clean off the waterpump gasket. Whoops !@#$? no !@#$ keyway. The pulley seems to only go back on in one position. Are the splines keyed in some way? Is the notch on top of the pulley tooth (sure looks like two adjacent teeth each have the notch?) aligned to the pointer mark on the block at TDC of cylinder #? if I need to verify correct position?
