Broken PNP or broken trany computer? 850 1994

In the process of switching out a busted PNP switch the "SHOP" managed to mess it up pretty bad now the car does not work right.
there was a report of spark as the "mechanic" shorted something out.
the car has the arrow turned out and the car starts out in 2nd gear and wont upshift.
now the only question as to which gave out is that when i try to read the codes i plug the A1 connector and the red led just stays on wont read any codes..
so does that mean that the ECU is busted..or the pnp?..and which of the ecu looking things is the tranny one?
Thanks
all the best
