AutoDim Rearview Mirror Issue 850 1995

My 4 years old autodim rearview mirror has problem with the autodim feature. The autodim layer shrinks in last few weeks. Now, only the center area of the mirror has autodim function. The rest of the mirror area are just regular mirror.

I went to Volvo part department and was told that they had heard about this problem. Of course, I cannot get a free replacement because of the age of the mirror - about 4 years. However, my bimmer's autodim mirror is also about 4 years old, but it does not have this problem at all.
