S70 GLT MAF Sensor Question S70 2000

Hi,

I got a P1171 code yesterday with my OBD2 read, searched this forum, tried unplugging and repluging MAF connector, thought it might be a bad connection. I cleared the code, it came back again today while driving. I turned off the car, tried to start it and it wouldn't start. I then unplugged the MAF connector, car started right up, and I drove back home. Car drove pretty good, but not great.

Would driving without this connected for about 40 miles have hurt anything?

I was able to go into Autozone (left car idling) and get a replacement Bosch MAF sensor, do I have to replace the whole thing or can I just swap out the sensor part that slides in (the one connected by the 2 'security' type torx)? Thanks.

It's 3 degree's here in Chicago and I don't have a garage.

Thanks,
Oak
