XC70 engine choices; any thoughts? V70-XC70

We are looking at buying a 2002 or a 2004 XC 70. I noticed that the '02 has a 2.4T engine, while the '04 has a 2.5T engine. Is there a substantial difference between the performance, reliability, mileage, etc. between the two engines? Is one preferable to the other? Also, is there a difference between the AWD systems on these two cars, and if so, is one system preferable to the other?
