Shifting "issues'? 850

After years of RWD Volvo's i now have an 850 Turbo. Got a great deal but has some issues. When its driven nice and easy is shifts great, no weird noises. When you step on it, but not full throttle, when it shifts its as if it boggs down a bit right before it shifts into the higher gear. Now when you are at a dead stop and hammer it the car will not to go into 2nd unitl you let off the accelerator. Once you let off of it it shifs fine. Any ideas??
