Volvo Suspension

What is wrong with the Volvo OEM suspension parts?
In almost all of the threads S40, 850, 200, 900, etc. I read how people replaced swaybars, shock absorbers/struts, springs etc.
Are the ones from the factory that bad that we need to replace these suspension parts with IPD parts? Don't get me wrong, but most of us drive our Volvo's as regular cars. I love ralley driving as much as the next guy and have had cars specifically tuned to do so or bought cars designed to drive as high(er) performance cars, but these are Bricks and drive actually from the factury already sturdier than the average Big 3 cars out there of the same age.
Hence why stiffen up your suspension.
