What part is this? 850 1994

I'm refering to the "cilynder" bolted to the radiator shroud on the drivers side. it has a nylon tube that comes from underneath and a rubber line that connects to the inlet mainfold. Has some electric connections and is encapsulated in rubber .

My engine is a B5234T and sometimes it happens to puff some black smoke from the exhaust, at idle and the engine runs rough. If i go and check the engine area i can hear this "cilynder" clicking. Normally it doesn't click and no black smoke puffs of the exhaust.

Also, i don't know how this could be related, when this happens, I have much more difficulty to open and close the doors with the remote. Normally it works from 30mts away from the car, when this happens i have to place the remote on the windshield, next to the drivers pillar for it to work (it's a Guard alarm one from Volvo that is installed on the car and has been working fine for the last 14 years).

What could be triggering this problem.

Best Regards to you all
