1995 850 won't start 850

My brain doesn't remember things any more. My daughter just called from college and said her 1995 850 wouldn't start (she said it had been a couple weeks since she started it). I went down there (she's just a few miles away) and I tried starting the car. I've owned the car since new, but she's been the sole driver for that past 1 1/2 years, and for the life of me, I can't remember if this car you are supposed to hear the fuel pump when you turn the key to the on position? I am not, so I suspect this is the problem. Fuse to the pump is fine. Unfortunately i had very limited tools with me and it started to rain just as i got there.

I suspect it is the pump, should i be hearing it with key in the on position?
