VST Reverse-Engineering

Dear Volvo Enthusiasts,
How many of you have needed a VST for some reason but couldn't afford one? That's about all of us! Well, I read on a post, I think it was Volvospeed, of a group of people (computer programmers, disassemblers, electricians etc) trying to reverse-engineer a VCT2000 so they could build something more affordable. Why can't we start that here for VST applications? Those of you who are privy, volvo uses an ISO-9141 protocol on their cars 96-98, generic OBDII codes are available but not Volvo proprietary. Does anyone have any information about the Volvo serial systems? Does anyone have a broken or used VST to disassemble and reverse engineer? Who all would be interested? I started my own little data collection by "spying" on my serial port using the VOL-FCR program and HHD Softwares Serial Monitor program. It basically sniffs the port and shows any data sent or received and can be recorded to a log. I have already begun to collect that data such as the SRI reset function and it's command codes. Anyone, such as computer programmers, auto engineers or anyone who can help with this project? I'm interested in getting this project started and trading info and such but I am not that technically inclined so your help and support is needed. Making a simple tool to just program key fobs to the Immo would sell like nothing, I'd buy one! Think of the possibilities!! SO let's hear it Volvo gurus!
