Regaining some gas mileage? 850 1995

I own a '95 854 GLT and lately have seen a drop off in my gas mileage that I can't explain. I always change the oil every 3k miles, new plugs, rotor, cap, fuel filter, air filter, wires and flame trap religiously. I used to get a little over 20 mpg in the city and now it's down to like 16 mpg. The only thing I can think is that I have been running the cheaper gas (87 octane) due to the obvious cost issues. I also have never replaced either O2 sensor yet and the car has 170,000 miles on it. No idiot light with code telling me that the sensor(s) are an issue. Any ideas that I might have missed?
