knock sensors or tune up 850 1994

i have a '94 turbo wagon that keeps setting 4-3-3 (and sometimes 1-4-3) for the knock sensors. Should I start with a tune up or go directly to the knock sensors? Is that code supposed to detect an error with the sensors themselves or an ignition/firing problem? I have read the archives and am confused about the right approach - some say it is the ECU, some say sensors, others tune up. Hasn't seen new plugs for 50k so I thought I would start there.

Matt
