It's 1997 again! S70

Hi all,

Just have to share my excitement after finally collecting all the parts to retrofit my S70 GLT with the Dolby Pro-Logic surround sound system.

First, I found an SC-901 on E-bay from a private seller. It was in perfect working condition but the appearance was very well used. I was able to restore its appearance to +/- lightly used.

Then I found the Dolby processor at Erie Vo-Vo in perfect condition.

I got a show-room condition dash pad, Nokia center speaker, Dynaudio tweeters and wiring harness from Volvo & SAAB Auto Dismantlers in Rancho Cordova, Ca. for an embarrassingly low price.

I used the 4 X 50 amp from my SC-816 since the SC-901 only amps the 25 watt center speaker.

The listening experience is like being center stage at a live performance at any seating position.

Even keeping the Harmon door and parcel-shelf speakers (for now) the system compares favorably to premium systems in newer near-luxury sedans.

The so-called SC-816 "Premium Sound" on these models was anything but.

Thanks for letting me boast about my good luck.
Bryan
