When I first bought the car 4 years ago, the dealer informed me that the rubber gaitor was torn, caused by sand or dirt that along with the use of too much grease welded the dirt to the piston. Water got in eventually and the piston stopped moving.
I tried to push the piston in with a pair of large channel lock pliers, like I normally do, to no avail. A 6 inch C clamp was employed, with as much force as I could muster to move the piston 1/4 inch. The inner pad was always touching, but even at hard braking would not grip the rotor with any force.
Hondas are a pain... I like the design, but the options list is terrible. I like the Touring model, but do not want navigation or a DVD player. The EX-L does not have a memory seat, nice radio, 110 outlet, ect. and those options cannot be added! Just like Volvo, a package or nothing! Perhaps I should just rent a minivan and keep the R?
I am getting tired of the rough "sport suspension" and climbing out of the low seats. But, Volvo still has the most comfortable seats on the market. And it has a net between the rear and the seats if one wants to pile a lot of stuff in the back, in case of hard braking. Volvo also has shorter stopping distances than Honda.
