problem with starting 400 1994

You might want to copy your post over on the RWD side. Very few of us remember what a carburator is :) Make the subjece'problem with starting 1994 440' and leave model/year catagory at ALL.

Now, when you turn the key to pos II, do all of the proper lights light up including ALT and BAT? Check the red wires connected to the battery and make sure they are not cracked or covered in white powder.
Because you get 1-1-1, that means that the sensors are working. Still, check the electricity flow to and from the coil. Pull #1 plug and ground the end near the block and crank the starter - look for a hot spark, a weak spark/ no spark will cause you to look at the dizzy again. Verify the plug wire order. The Haynes manual for 850s is incorrect, could they have made the same mistake for the 440?
