V70 AWD 1998 - Removed center propshaft and clunk/growl on turns is gone V70-XC70 1998

At some point last year, I was tired of the growling and grumbling under my feet on hard turns. Took it to a local indy volvo mechanic and he told me it was my front-to-rear driveshaft. $500 from Erie VoVo and they shipped me down the highway. Same growling on tight turns, mechanic says he can't reproduce but that it must be the angle gear.

Last night I got fed up and pulled the driveshaft. Noise and rumbling is gone. Is there any chance that this could still mean it's the angle gear and not the driveshaft? Thanks!

Mike
