Hi all.

Two nice postings from Klaus, and Ken.

Here in the UK we have all of the worry taken out of it, by our superiorities, who permit us only unleaded 93 octane,(or sometimes 95 'super' unleaded that is only to be used by footballers) for which we pay the bargain price of $10 or so a gallon , its very comforting....

Irony aside, what brought a grin to my otherwise grey/gray troubled face, some years ago, was when I found out (or thought I had) that fuel technologists could not be relied upon to use the same methods for determining octane ratings!

It realy was quite confusing, with ratings being different from time to time, place to place, and from automotive to aviation. there are bound to be good reasons for this, I suppose, that need not trouble my little head. SO.....on the planet that I come from one mans 93 'may' not be the same as anothers 93.

Its specialist knowledge this,and some of us like to know, so if anybody does 'know' the latest state of play,it might be helpfull.
