General Reliability V40 Question. S40-V40

Ditto with the space size. I have a 744 and I think my boot space wins width wise. Length wise the V40 has foldable rear seats so no comparison there.

I've had my V40 for 3 weeks now and am liking it. It's due for a timing belt change otherwise it's ok except for the rear windscreen wiper which won't wipe properly (still figuring that out).

Not sure about your market but here the later version (like my 2004) got the 5 speed transmission. And I was informed the later models came with more improved parts (sort of similar story with previous volvo models). Maybe that's something worth considering.
