payback on shop screw up?? 850 1994

You have a right to be mad. And you should complain. But don't do both at the same time, it is not productive.

Go to the shop and "discuss" what you found. If the owner has any honor regarding his shops reputation, he will either reverse some of his labor charge on your bill or appologize profusely. You need to accept it and move on.

Mistakes made honestly are part of learning and the mechanic who made them will learn not to do it again. It is not a fun job getting to the knock sensors, as you know now, and if the bolt was not tightened down correctly and you corrrected it, good for you.

Just don't say nothing or pretend you are going to get a lawyer. Be understanding and let the owner know what happened.
