Best next Volvo 850

Hey Brickers,

I want you input. We are looking to get another Volvo and trying to decide which one. Our 850 GLT wagon should be a little over 300K now and is still solid as a rock! This will be for my wife and after 2 years, is always ready for another car(for 17 years now). We have been looking at V70, S60 and S80's. Looking in the 2001~2003 model years. We do not want AWD, just FWD. We normally purchase our cars a five to six years old and 100~130K on them to avoid major depreciation hits.

After she drives it 2 years, it will probably become my daughter's who will be 16 then. Up to this point I do all the repair and maintenance on our cars(with the help of y'all as we say here in the south) and realize when I get into the '01 and up models, this may not be the case.Dealer is 1 hour away.

My question is which one of these models will be the best bang for the buck? I don't mind fixing little things, but want to avoid major engine or transmisson problems. Always try to buy from a person to confirm service history.

Now, I will sit back and await the wisdom of my fellow Brickster's! Thanks.

Keith
