Auto Tranny slipping? S70 1998

Hi all,

Haven't posted here in a loooong time. I was active way back around 1999 I think.

I have a quick question: Our red 1998 S70 does this strange thing, driving up a hill (not too steep) then coming to a complete stop. When I release my foot on the brake, the car starts moving backwards. I had to step on the gas to get it moving forward. Same thing driving downhill and putting the car in reverse. When I release the brake the car moves forward. I had to step on the gas to go in the direction I was going.

Is this a not-so-good sign? I checked the tranny fluid and it is full and doesnt seem to have a burnt smell. It also has a light brownish color (on paper towel). I did a tranny flush back in 2002 and another in 2005.

Any thing else to check --- thoughts/suggestions?

TIA
