Willing to pass on SRI, but what about reading/resetting codes? S70 1998

OK, since the SRI isn't needed, I am going to go the black tape route for now, and eventually yank that bulb out of there.

But I am still open to suggestions for a scan tool. This year seems to be a tough one. For the '96 and '97 I believe you could make your own push button/led flash interface via the 16-pin connector to do what they had under the hood '95 and before. No can do for '98. The '98 is OBDII compliant according to the emissions sticker, but I see widely varying data about what readers will and won't work for Volvo. For example, someone somewhere said use a GS300 for the '98, but I saw a website selling them and it said the GS300 shouldn't be used for Volvo.

If anyone has a '98 and uses a code reader, I'd be very interested in hearing what you use.
