Front seat headrests C70 2001

I own a '01 C70 and sometime ago I installed front seat covers that required that I remove the front seat headrests for installation. Now I need to remove the seatcovers for cleaning and need to remove the headrests in the process.
The two buttons in the back of each front seat that allow the headrest to be removed seem to be stuck and as a result I cannot remove the headrests.
Has anyone on Brickboard dealt with the issue and if so, please tell me how you solved this problem? Thanks very much, Fred.
