System Engine Serviced Required Message XC90

Getting this message with increasing frequency (not always) on my 2002 XC 90 with 65,000 miles. Car has been serviced properly and there are no symptoms. Only strange thing is occasional difficulty in shifting car out of Park first time car used in the morning (not every day, but seems to relate to when the abovementioned message goes on). Does anyone know whether I should be concerned about this message (my mechanic can't figure it out) and whether there could be a relationship with the shifter?
