Starting Problems already 850

Just got my new 850, 1995 GLT non-turbo, this is now my third of this model. Go to pick up GF at work, but I experience huge traffic conjestion on the way (3hrs worth). Switch off and park, car won't start again. Had the mechanic out to the car and he eventually started it by fiddling with the starter motor, said the contacts were dirty or something, clean them. I wonder if anyone has had the same problem when the car is hot? Battery is fine for sure, should there be other things I should have a look at while I'm in there? After he started it I drove directly home, but also the AC didn't work, I hope its related and he didn't break anything... Can anyone offer advise?? Stories?
