Starting Problems already 850

The update is: The starter motor has at some stage been replaced with a non-genuine part, which if it worked would be fine, but it seems its an intermittent problem with it (brushes, contacts??). I can always start the car by jumping the starter motor directly to the + on the battery. So the problem is somewhere in the signal to the starter, probably a short? as it is also running the battery down almost everytime. Today the starter will come out and replaced with a reconditioned unit I hope, and check the line. If there is anything you could add for a check them it would be appreciated. Will clear the codes, and see what lingers after that. Clear is 4sec ON 3sec ON right? I'll check on the board again, been a few years since my last 850....and the memory isn't as good as it was.....lol
