97 850 GLT Power Loss and Turbo Smoke 850 1997

Greetings one and all...

140K on original engine.

For a few thousand miles, I have been getting gray/black smoke when my turbo kicks in. Recently started to sputter and smoke more over 4 thousand RPM's or so.

I've noticed that there seems to be some water in the oil (on the dipstick).

Car has been losing a quart every 2 to 3 thousand miles.

I was driving up a very steep, long hill last night at about 40 mph, which always causes the Turbo to kick in. Sudden drop in power occurred followed by flashing "check engine" light. I pulled over and noticed that the turbo was glowing hot.

Now the car feels like it's running on 4 cylinders (unbalanced, rough...) and the "check engine" light flashes every few minutes.

Only a slight drop in water/coolant level. Maybe not at all.

Is this a blown head gasket? Blown Turbo?

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
