850 GLT transmission clunk 850

Hi

I drove a 97 850 GLT today.(low pressure turbo) The transmission fluid looked OK, but just a bit off color. (Not bright red) The car was fine under normal acceleration but when I stomped it from a dead stop the 1/2 shift was really hard. (maybe 2/3?) in any case I got 1 really hard Clunk and a bit softer one next.

I got back in my 740T and on leaving, stomped it a bit the 2 ensuing shifts on my car were a bit hard, but nowhere as hard as the 850.

I also noticed when I stomped it at 45 there was some steering torque ( the front wheels tried to turn right) I was ready for it as a T5 I had driven earlier did the same thing.

Is that a normal characteristic in a FWD car with a bit of power?

Regards

Woody
