850 Rack Removal 850

I read the rack removal pdf on Bay13, which claims the rack can be pulled off fairly easily, but that was a RHD car in U.K.

Is this only true for RHD? I've read that the sub-frame needs to be removed, not something I really want to do. Has anyone done a LHD 850 steering rack swap? Or have a link to instructions?

Right now I'm topping up the pump monthly, but eventually I need to fix it....
