Microswitch ? S70 1998

I have a 1998 S70 with 122,000 miles, auto ( Yup, just over the extended coverage for the check engine light for a fuel problem ) that has an intermittant release problem with the shift knob. When I place it into park, the release button may not come out and as a result I can not take the key out of the ignition lock.
Sometimes the shift lock overide will release it, and sometimes if I start the car and move the shift knob through the gears and shut it down it will release it.

Anyone face this problem before ? I suspect the micro switch.

Tnx in advance

Carln
