I have consistantly received ten years of operation on Volvo batteries. That has been my experience--and I only changed them out because I was concerned regarding their longevity. They were not failing when I changed them out and they were directly bought from the Volvo dealership. A 129 dollar battery but they last...at least for me. Good Luck.

1993 940 battery changed in 2003 (has 325K miles/orig eng)
1996 960 battery changed in 2006 (has 310K miles/orig eng)
2004 S80 battery will be changed in 2014 (has 128K miles/orig eng)
