electrical glitch? S70 1998

car did something it's never done b4...went out to move car from one side of street to the other(the old alternate side of the street headache we have here in the snowbelt), started up normally, turned on lights, and both headlights and dashlights both proceeded to go dim(not out completely), then normal, repeated a few times, then seemed normal..was rather cold, some component just needing to warm up a bit?...alternator starting to go? haven't run any checks yet..just want to avoid the cold weather breakdown...thankyou again all
