dip stick question 850 1994

I went to buy a new dip stick for my car a few years ago and they sold me something with a different part number and an orange handle (instead of the red). I fear that the dip stick they sold me isn't long enough and I've been getting an incorrect reading all this time. My old one was broken at the time so I couldn't measure them side by side and be accurate about it.
My new dipstick's part number is 1271921 (the old dipstick of course had another part number).
I wonder if anyone with the different part number might measure their dip stick and see if their length varies from mine. My dip stick is 19 1/8 inches from the end to where the little orange/red part begins. The red thing its self is 3 inches long.
They also tried to sell me a different dip stick hose/hole thing when I bought this thing so I believe there may be something to it.
