2000 XC V70-XC70 2000

I have a 2000 XC. I have been going round and round trying to diagnose the flashing arrow& check engine light. At first there was no noticable affect while driving. But lately it seems to be shifting slow from 1st to 2nd. And then back down from 2nd to 1st. I am not sure what to do. I read a post by somebody else that said they flushed the trans fluid and reset the light and i never came back. So I may flush it anyway. What type of fluid for a 2000? If anybody could help me out with this problem I would appreciate it. I did pull codes recently and I came up with P0743 "torque converter circuit electrical". And also P1618 "manf. controlled computer and auxillary output".

Thanks in advance,
Ken
