2004 V70R Spark Plug options V70-XC70 2004

Because plugs last 40-50K miles, or more, I have always justified using Volvo plugs. Your owner's manual has only one plug description:

Spark plugs: Champion RC8PYP 8 (or equivalent)
Spark plug gap: 0.028-0.032" (0.7-0.8 mm)
Tightening torque: 18.4 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)

No mention of a different plug for HPT, which seems wierd to me. The NA cars have always had different 3 prong plugs.

I suggest calling Volvo 1-800-63-VOLVO (1-800-638-6586)
and see if they have different specs for the R.

What ever you do, do not buy multi-prong iridium tipped plugs. They have a tendancy to loose a prong which can get stuck in an exhaust valve and break things.
