Side Marker Lights - Question V70-XC70 2002

I may just be forgetful in my old age but when I lock my car with the remote, aren't the side marker lights, the ones right in front of the doors, suppose to flash? I could have sworn they did! They work fine as the turn signals but don't flash when locking the car. I also thought they came on when you hit that little yellow button on the remote that helps you find your car. I also tried it with the valet remote as well and still no go. Help!
