Snow traction XC90

I have the 2007 XC90 AWD 3.2. I had original Perelli Scorpion tires , all season, I believe, came with vehicle, which were mediocre. Tread wore quickly. Could not get up my driveway, approx 25-30 degree incline in the snow, even less than 1 inch. I recently put on Geo Trac XLT all season radials, and though, they handle better since they are new, still have difficulty getting up the driveway. My prior vehicle, 2003 Volvo XC 70 wagon would fly up the driveway without any difficulties in the snow. My wifes Toyota Sienna AWD Minivan goes up easier than the XC90. My question is, is it the XC90 Vehicle or the tires I have. If I put snow tires or different tires, would I still have the same experience. Anyone with similar experience? Thanks for any input.
