Timing belt alignment correct? V70-XC70 2001

There are quite a few posts regarding Timing Belt replacement/alignment on 2.4L v70's, I too have replaced mine and am struggling putting the new one back on, there just isn't a great picture of the bottom crank marking. I see the two hash marks on the teeth but cannot nail down what they should be aligned to. I have it back together, it actually runs very smoothly however my gas mileage seems to have taken a hit, could I be off a tooth? Would the car still run smoothly if I was off a tooth but get worse economy? What should I look for on the block to align the crank marks to? Finding this mark seems to be a common thread.

Thanks
