oil leak #2 - help V70-XC70 1998

Excellent reply sir and thanks for the encouragement.

I will contemplate attempting the job over the next few days while I wait for the parts to arrive....

I wonder if it would be safe to pull the bevel gear off to do this?
It would certainly clear the area for me and I'd be able to not only change the drain, but clean everything up good and determine if I'm losing oil anywhere else.

I might make a separate thread to ask about this to the group.
