S80's computer replaced - now there's a strong sulfer smell and car runs rough... S80

I brought my wife's 2001 S80 in to have the throttle sensor recall taken care of. The dealer could not get the software update completed on the original ECU, so they replaced it. Drove the car home (10 miles) and it seemed ok. Next time I tried to start it, it would not turn over. Message displayed "Start prevented, try again". Tried another key and got it started. My wife tried to take my daughter to a soccer game. Car started to run rough and stink like eggs/sulfer. She turned around and parked it in the garage. I could not believe how badly the car smelled of sulfer.

Any ideas what is going on here? Is it safe to drive this car to the dealer or is it possible that damage is being done to the catalytic converter?
